Fellow Cadders,
A very good day to you all.
Today I am going to explain a way to make your own personalised shortcuts for any command you consider to be of long length.
The benefits, First this way the command belongs to you and becomes easier to remember, Second less keystrokes, that makes you faster and saves you time.
Let's take an example of the command "LAYMCUR" explained in my last post. It makes any object's layer current.
The command in itself works good & I found it useful too. One thing that irritates me is the length of the command that makes it difficult to remember and type (I am an old AutoCAD user and like to use keyboard more than mouse).
So inspired by the advertisement on TV on one of the channels that have caption "If it irritates you so much, why not change it", I decided to shorten the command.
So friends, lets shorten the command.
Here you go....
Open your AutoCAD goto :
Tools> Customize > Edit Program Paramaters (acad.pgp)
Tools> Customize > Edit Program Paramaters (acad.pgp)
This will open your acad.pgp file in a text editor and go to the last line and type the following
LMC, *LAYMCUR
Here "LMC" are the letters of your choice to be used for the command.
Save ur acad.pgp file and you are done.
(Note : Please backup your acad.pgp file before making changes to it.)
Now restart the AutoCAD and run the command using "LMC".
You can add as many commands you wish to the acad.pgp to shorten and make yourself a bit faster and more productive and give your fingers their well deserved rest.
Hope you enjoyed the post.
